The next steps we will be collecting stock footage and photography and integrating into the film.  This process...

Ambassador To The Stars Famed Hotel Approaches Checkout Time November 09, 1988|By Gerald Volgenau, Knight-Ridder Newspapers. Chicago Tribune. LOS ANGELES — It happens almost every day, said Arthur Nyhagen, who at age 70 still looks natty in his red doorman`s jacket standing in front of the Ambassador Hotel. “People just drive up, take a picture of the hotel and then get back in their cars and drive on,“ he said. “They`ve been doing it for years.“ The reason is simple. The sprawling Ambassador Hotel on...

Our Identity on Film

Posted by on Feb 28, 2015 in Historic Preservation Blog | 0 comments

Great piece below from Scoop Independent News about the influence and value of documentaries on cultural identity. Funding has been cut across the board (all over the world including the US) for independent films and docs making it harder for filmmaker to get material out to the public and audiences. One of the reasons we are so passionate in telling the story of the Ambassador is because we want to expose the important role the Ambassador played in our local and national history. As filmmakers we feel it is meaningful to share its history...

1920 :: May 26, 1920, the Ambassador Hotel Corporation lands a big deal, aquiring 187 acres of land in west Los Angeles. The land is to be developed into a golf course and country club for hotel guests and exclusive members. The golf course is only a 12 minute drive from the famous Ambassador Hotel in a largely unpopulated area of Los Angeles. On September 15, 1936, American Legion post commander C. D. “Ace” Aseltine launched a drive to establish a recreation park on the site of the bankrupt Rancho Country Club, formerly the...
